That kind of profile usually travels well in a home role because it reduces variance: efficient offense, efficient defense, and enough margin for a touchdown spread to stay within reach. Jacksonville State has an offense that can move the ball, especially on the ground, but its defense allowed 391.2 yards per game and 5.6 yards per play last season. That creates a difficult setup against a North Dakota State team that scored 29 or more in almost every meaningful spot last year and showed a much tighter defensive floor. The market has Jacksonville State getting a full touchdown at some shops, but the stronger consensus number and the Bison’s profile suggest the favorite deserves to be closer to a 7-point or slightly higher favorite.

North Dakota State should control this game at home and is the better side to back against the spread. The Bison’s offensive efficiency and much stronger defensive numbers point to a 31-20 win, which supports North Dakota State -6.5 and a total around 51. Jacksonville State can keep this competitive with its rushing attack, but the Bison’s balance and defensive consistency make them the more reliable side to cover.
