Red Wings vs Oilers Player Props: Draisaitl To Score Again?

Updated October 23, 2026

Updated October 23, 2026

Leon Draisaitl has scored ten goals in the first ten games this season. Five of those have come in his last four appearances, and the Edmonton Oilers forward doesn't appear particularly interested in slowing down.
His latest performance was another reminder of just how dangerous Edmonton can be. Draisaitl scored twice and added three assists against Carolina on Thursday, helping the Oilers overcome a late deficit to secure a 6-5 shootout victory.
On Monday comes a visit from the Detroit Red Wings, who have quietly put together a six-game point streak of their own. Before that, the Edmonton plays the Maple Leafs on Saturday. Two of Mike Babcock's former teams. How about that.
Detroit has been playing better hockey recently, but its penalty kill remains a concern. And with Draisaitl operating alongside Connor McDavid, I'm particularly interested in whether his scoring streak can continue on Monday, October 26.

The Detroit Red Wings visit the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place on Monday, October 26, with puck drop scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET.
Edmonton enters the weekend with an 8-1-1 record, having won three consecutive games. Detroit has improved to 4-3-3 following Thursday's 5-2 victory over Vancouver.
The Oilers are favored on Kalshi and Polymarket, with the game-winner markets giving Edmonton approximately a 60–65% implied probability of victory.
That's understandable considering Edmonton's offensive production. The Oilers have scored 46 goals in ten games, averaging 4.6 per appearance.
However, I'm more interested in Draisaitl's individual scoring potential than the outcome of the game.
Draisaitl has ten goals and ten assists through ten appearances, continuing a remarkable start alongside McDavid.
He's also scored in five consecutive games, including two goals against Minnesota on October 20 and another two against Carolina two nights later.
The performance against Carolina was particularly encouraging because both of his goals came on the power play.
Draisaitl has long been one of the NHL's most dangerous players with the man advantage, particularly when finding space for his left-handed shot.
And right now, McDavid is providing him with plenty of opportunities.
Edmonton's captain has recorded 31 points through ten appearances, including an extraordinary 23 assists. His ability to attract defenders and create passing lanes makes Draisaitl's job considerably easier.
It's difficult enough trying to contain one of these players. When they're on the ice together, opponents have to make a choice about which one to prioritize.
Draisaitl is shooting at an unsustainable rate to begin the season, but his ability to consistently find scoring positions makes him more than just a player enjoying a fortunate stretch.
The Red Wings deserve credit for their recent performances.
They've collected points in six consecutive games, going 3-0-3 during that stretch, and Thursday's victory over Vancouver was one of their most convincing efforts.
Detroit outshot the Canucks 31-13 and held them without a single shot during the second period.
However, special teams remain a concern.
The Red Wings entered Thursday's matchup with a penalty-killing percentage below 70%, ranking among the NHL's weakest teams in that category.
They also conceded another power-play goal against Vancouver.
That's an uncomfortable weakness to bring into Edmonton, particularly against a team featuring McDavid, Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard.
The Oilers demonstrated how dangerous their power play can be against Carolina, scoring three times with the man advantage.
Two of those goals belonged to Draisaitl.
Detroit's recent improvement is encouraging, but I wouldn't assume its defensive success against Vancouver translates into similar results against Edmonton.
The Oilers simply have considerably more offensive firepower.
There's another interesting factor worth considering.
Draisaitl has scored five goals in his last five appearances against the Red Wings, including two goals in Detroit during the 2024-25 season.
He also scored against Detroit in October 2025 and recorded two assists in their most recent meeting last December.
That's nine points across those five games.
Historical performances aren't necessarily predictive, especially with different players and goaltenders involved.
Still, Draisaitl has repeatedly demonstrated that he can create opportunities against Detroit, and Monday's matchup looks favorable given his current form.
His biggest advantage is the amount of offensive responsibility he receives.
Draisaitl has recently been playing on Edmonton's leading line alongside McDavid and Vasily Podkolzin, while also remaining one of the team's primary power-play weapons.
There's no shortage of ways for him to get involved offensively.
Detroit has its own player enjoying an impressive start.
Alex DeBrincat has six goals and six assists through ten games, making him the Red Wings' leading scorer.
He registered an assist against Vancouver on Thursday after scoring against Seattle earlier in the week.
DeBrincat's shooting volume has been encouraging, and he's continued to receive significant power-play opportunities alongside Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond.
Edmonton's defense hasn't been particularly convincing either.
The Oilers have conceded 32 goals through ten games, including five against Carolina on Thursday. Devon Levi stopped 22 of 27 shots in that contest.
If Detroit can generate enough offensive pressure, DeBrincat should have opportunities.
His anytime-goal market is interesting, especially considering Edmonton's own penalty-killing struggles.
However, Draisaitl offers the stronger combination of current production, offensive responsibility and matchup advantages.
Raymond deserves attention after his outstanding performance against Vancouver.
The Swedish winger scored twice and added an assist, contributing to three of Detroit's five goals.
It was a much-needed offensive breakout after a relatively quiet start to the season.
Raymond now has three goals and six assists through ten appearances, and he continues to play an important role alongside Larkin.
He's also an integral part of Detroit's first power-play unit, making his 1+ point market worth considering.
The concern is that Edmonton's leading players could spend considerable time controlling possession, limiting Detroit's opportunities at even strength.
For that reason, I'd rather wait for a more favorable matchup before making Raymond my preferred position.
Edmonton's most recent first line featured Vasily Podkolzin, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, followed by Zach Hyman, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Kasperi Kapanen.
Nugent-Hopkins returned from injury against Carolina and immediately contributed a goal and an assist. His presence gives Edmonton considerably more depth behind its leading offensive trio.
Mattias Ekholm and Evan Bouchard have been forming Edmonton's leading defensive pairing.
Detroit's latest offensive combinations featured Alex DeBrincat, Emmitt Finnie and Viktor Arvidsson, followed by Michael Brandsegg-Nygård, Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond.
Moritz Seider and Ben Chiarot have been leading the defensive pairings, with Justin Faulk providing another experienced option.
Detroit's goaltending situation deserves attention. John Gibson left Thursday's game against Vancouver with an upper-body injury, while Daniil Tarasov has also been dealing with an injury.
Michal Postava replaced Gibson against Vancouver, making his NHL debut.
Edmonton has been rotating Devon Levi and Tristan Jarry. The final starting assignments will become clearer following Saturday's games.
