The Las Vegas Aces continue their Eastern road trip on Wednesday night with a visit to the Washington Mystics, in the final game for both teams before the All-Star break. Las Vegas enters the game with one of the WNBA's best records at 18-7 and has been one of the league's strongest road teams throughout the season. Washington has exceeded preseason expectations, sitting at 13-12 after an impressive comeback victory over Golden State in its most recent outing. The Mystics have been competitive for much of the year thanks to an energetic young core, but this is another significant test against one of the league's elite teams.
Las Vegas remains built around MVP candidate A'ja Wilson, who is producing another outstanding campaign with 25.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. Chelsea Gray continues to direct the offense with 7.4 assists per contest, while Jackie Young has added 16.4 points and 6.8 assists. The Aces rank among the league leaders in offensive efficiency, field-goal percentage, and assists, making them difficult to slow down when their ball movement is clicking.
Washington counters with rookie standout Sonia Citron, who is averaging 17.0 points per game, while Shakira Austin has anchored the paint with 9.7 rebounds per contest. Kiki Iriafen is also coming off one of her best performances of the season after recording 23 points and 10 rebounds against the Valkyries. The Mystics have competed well defensively, but scoring consistently against top contenders has remained their biggest hurdle.
Washington deserves credit for its recent improvement and enters the game with confidence after rallying late against Golden State. Still, this is a difficult scheduling spot against an Aces club that has consistently handled business on the road. Las Vegas owns a significant edge in offensive efficiency, shooting accuracy and experience in close contests. Those advantages become even more valuable late in games and should help Vegas win and cover the spread.

And we'll finish things out with Shakira Austin to reach double-digits in rebounds, as Austin has been one of the league's best rebounders all year and should be one of the few frontcourt players who can compete with A'ja Wilson on the glass.

Washington has improved throughout the season and has enough young talent to remain competitive, but the Mystics still struggle to generate efficient offense against elite defensive clubs. Las Vegas ranks near the top of the WNBA in shooting efficiency while committing very few turnovers, limiting opportunities for opponents to create easy transition points.
The individual battle between Wilson and Washington's frontcourt should determine how long the Mystics stay within striking distance. If Austin avoids foul trouble and Iriafen continues her recent scoring surge, Washington can keep things interesting into the fourth quarter. Even so, Las Vegas owns clear advantages in experience, offensive balance and late-game shot creation.
Expect Washington to compete with energy in front of its home crowd before Las Vegas gradually separates during the final 15 minutes. Wilson should finish with another dominant performance, Gray will create quality opportunities for her teammates, and the Aces should leave the nation's capital with another road victory.
