Blackhawks vs Red Wings Player Props: Kane Eyes Assist No. 900

Patrick Kane returns to Detroit on Thursday, and the timing couldn't be much better. The former Red Wings forward needs just one more assist to reach 900 for his NHL career.

Kane has recorded five assists in his last five games, including one in each of his last three appearances. He's finding his passing touch again, and against his former team, I'm particularly interested in his 1+ assist market at 45¢ on Polymarket US.

Kane Is Closing In on Another Milestone

Kane has one goal and seven assists through 12 games since returning to Chicago. His latest contribution came against Los Angeles on Tuesday, when he helped set up Wyatt Kaiser's game-winning goal.

There's something fitting about the possibility of his 900th career assist coming in Detroit, where he spent the previous three seasons.

More importantly, he's still getting meaningful minutes and remains part of Chicago's first power-play unit. His recent production makes the 45¢ price worth considering.

Detroit's Penalty Kill Remains a Concern

The Red Wings have improved considerably over the past two weeks, collecting points in seven of their last eight games.

However, their penalty kill remains a problem. Detroit has killed just 65.9% of opposing power plays, among the worst marks in the NHL.

Chicago's power play hasn't exactly been impressive either, converting just 10.3% of its opportunities. Still, with Kane pulling the strings, this is a matchup that could produce something.

Why I Prefer Kane's Assist Market

Kane's 1+ point YES is available at 57¢, compared with 45¢ for an assist.

Considering he's scored just once this season, I'd rather take the cheaper assist position. His recent production has come almost exclusively through playmaking, and there's little reason to pay another 12¢ for the additional goal-scoring possibility.

Chicago's offensive struggles are a concern, particularly with the Blackhawks still searching for their first road victory. That's why I wouldn't chase this price much higher.
