Winnipeg Jets vs Tampa Bay Lightning Player Props: Guentzel Stays Hot

The Winnipeg Jets have picked a terrible time to visit Tampa Bay. Six games without a victory, a struggling offense, and a defense missing Josh Morrissey. Now they face a Lightning team that hasn't lost at home this season.

Thursday's matchup presents an interesting opportunity in the player-prop prediction markets. Jake Guentzel has scored seven goals in 11 games, including three in his last two appearances, and Winnipeg's defensive problems give him another favorable matchup.

With Polymarket US offering Guentzel to score 1+ goals at 40¢ YES, that's where I'm focusing my attention.

Jets vs Lightning: Winnipeg Searching for Answers

Winnipeg has fallen to 4-5-3 after six consecutive games without a victory. Sunday's 2-1 defeat against Montreal was disappointing enough, but Tuesday's 5-1 loss to Florida exposed bigger problems.

The Jets have scored just ten goals during their six-game slide. They've also struggled on special teams, with Florida converting three of five power-play opportunities in their latest defeat.

Losing Josh Morrissey has complicated matters further. Winnipeg is missing one of its most important defensemen, and the recent departure of Connor Hellebuyck has added another layer of uncertainty.

Meanwhile, Tampa Bay enters Thursday at 7-3-1, including a perfect 5-0-0 record at home. The Lightning have averaged more than three goals per game and should have the offensive advantage.

Why Jake Guentzel Is My Preferred Player Prop

Guentzel has been one of Tampa Bay's most reliable finishers to start the season.

The 32-year-old has seven goals and 12 points through 11 appearances. He scored twice against Colorado on October 23 before adding another goal against Utah the following night.

His involvement on Tampa Bay's top power-play unit is particularly appealing. Nikita Kucherov remains the primary creator, while Guentzel provides a dangerous finishing option.

Winnipeg's penalty kill has operated at just over 74%, making special teams an obvious area for Tampa Bay to attack.

There are reasons for caution. Guentzel's 24.1% shooting percentage is unlikely to remain that high throughout the season, and projected Winnipeg starter Stuart Skinner has posted a respectable .911 save percentage.

Nevertheless, with Guentzel receiving significant ice time and operating alongside some of the league's most creative forwards, I believe his goal-scoring probability is slightly higher than the market suggests.

Other Jets vs Lightning Player Props Worth Watching

Nikita Kucherov — 1+ Assists YES at 66¢

Kucherov has ten assists in 11 games and remains Tampa Bay's offensive engine. Winnipeg's recent defensive struggles make another productive evening entirely plausible. However, at 66¢, the market already recognizes much of that advantage.

Kyle Connor — 1+ Goals YES at 36¢

Connor has nine goals through 12 games, making him Winnipeg's most dangerous offensive player. The 36¢ price is interesting, particularly with Andrei Vasilevskiy posting an .884 save percentage this season. However, Winnipeg's recent scoring problems make this a less appealing position than Guentzel.

Brayden Point — 1+ Assists YES at 45¢

Point has seven assists through 11 appearances and continues to benefit from playing alongside Kucherov. His role on Tampa Bay's first power-play unit gives him a reasonable path to another assist. At 45¢, this is my preferred alternative to the Guentzel selection.
